Ulundi, 9 November 2025 – The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs confirms that MEC Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi has swiftly dispatched Disaster Management teams to the Newcastle area.The deployment follows a severe storm that hit the region this afternoon, resulting in significant flooding incidents.Current Situation in Newcastle * Flooding Confirmed: A portion of the Newcastle Central Business District (CBD) has been affected by flooding due to the heavy downpour. * Route Closures: Disaster Management teams are actively on the ground and have implemented road closures in affected areas for public safety.
