In alignment with the provincial government’s commitment to fostering social cohesion and intergovernmental relations, the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (KZN COGTA), Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, attended the Nazareth Baptist Church service at eBuhleni to reaffirm the Department’s support for the province’s prominent religious institutions.
Recognising the significant scale of this pilgrimage, the MEC was accompanied by senior leadership from the Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC), who are providing essential oversight to ensure that the gathering adheres to rigorous public safety and disaster-risk protocols.
This collaborative presence underscores a proactive governance approach, where the state provides the necessary logistical and safety frameworks—ranging from crowd management to emergency readiness—to ensure that congregants can exercise their spiritual traditions in a secure and dignified environment.
